The DOI or repository record remains the authoritative location for record-level metadata supplied by the repository, including downloadable files and any repository-specific license information.

Publication Classification

Status Changes How a Source Should Be Used

SFT distinguishes between normative, explanatory, provisional, and superseded material. A rigorous research paper may be highly important without becoming a normative implementation specification, and a public review draft should not be treated as a finalized standard.

Normative

A versioned source intended to define requirements, required behavior, schemas, lifecycle semantics, protocol behavior, or conformance expectations.

Explanatory

Research, architecture, vocabulary, application, or knowledge material used to explain concepts, relationships, models, formal results, or engineering implications.

Provisional

A preprint, public review draft, or developing artifact that remains under technical development or review and should not be treated as a finalized standard.

Superseded

A historical source that has been replaced by a later authoritative version for the purpose for which the earlier version was previously used.

Preserve History Without Confusing It With the Current Baseline

Persistent identifiers make earlier technical releases discoverable even after a newer version becomes the appropriate source for current implementation or conformance.

The AGCP specification illustrates this distinction. Earlier specification material remains part of the historical record, but current AGCP conformance claims should reference the applicable stable specification and associated test artifacts.

Status: Historical specification release.

The v0.9.0 record remains useful for provenance and technical history. The active RGE source baseline uses the archived v1.0.0 specification for current normative AGCP claims.

AGCP Operating Model v0.9 Public Review Draft

Status: Provisional explanatory architecture.

The operating-model paper remains a valuable source for proposal schemas, governance context, canonical state, commitment semantics, receipts, refusal records, and interoperability, but its public-review status means it should not be substituted for the normative AGCP specification.

Cite the Record You Actually Used

Research artifacts can change over time. Citation should identify the specific work and, where relevant, the version or edition actually consulted.

Persistent Identifier

Prefer the DOI or other persistent identifier associated with the exact publication record. A DOI is intended to remain a stable route to the record even if file-hosting details change.

Version & Status

When a work carries a version number, training-edition designation, public-review status, or other explicit release state, preserve that information when citation or implementation decisions depend on it.

License

License terms are publication-specific. Follow the repository record for the applicable license and reuse terms rather than assuming that all SFT research artifacts share the same license.
