Research & Development

SFT conducts research across emerging and rapidly evolving technical fields. Public descriptions may discuss architectures, algorithms, materials, system concepts, experimental approaches, hypotheses, reference implementations, or potential applications that remain under investigation.

Research-stage work can produce positive, negative, inconclusive, or boundary-condition findings. A technical hypothesis may be refined, narrowed, replaced, or abandoned as evidence develops.

Convergence 2042 is SFT’s strategic horizon for examining how increasingly mature technologies may intersect and become integrated components of larger systems.

The year 2042 should not be interpreted as a prediction that a specific technology, capability, market, or societal outcome will occur on a precise date.

References to future convergence describe a strategic and systems-engineering perspective. The pace at which individual technologies mature—and whether particular technologies ultimately converge in the ways presently envisioned—remains uncertain.
